New Fancy Goldfish

Heey everybody,

Today I went to the Fancy Goldfish Store and I bought 2 new Fancy Goldfish!
So I'm going to show you guys which one I bought!

The first fancy goldfish I choose was a Butterfly Demekin Goldfish.
The colours she has are called Lilac.
She's white/chocolate and she has also got a bit of Orange and some metallic scale.
I loved her from the first moment I let my eyes on here!
and she's called Peewee..!

She's very curious and is discovering the whole q-tank.
My seccond Goldfish is a Broadtail Ryukin.
His colour is called "Three-colour", he's Black/White and Orange!
His name is Blaze.

So first I let them get on the right temp. for like 20 minutes
and than I added a bit of water from my Q-tank in the bag of the goldfish each 10 minutes.
I did this for like 1 hour or so and then I'd put them in the Q-tank.

I prefer catching them with my own hands instead of a net,
because then I won't damage them so quickly

They really searched for eachother and they keep swimming togetter.
That's very cute to watch!
Blaze was spawning immediately and chasing Peewee,
but because Peewee is a bit bigger she wasn't impressed!

I hope they will do well.
I will keep them in the Q-tank for at least 3 weeks or so.
and I will let them get checked for worms or parasites.

Hope you guys like them as well.

Package time!

This week I received 2 packets and I wanted to share those 2 with you !
So my first package came from the US and I bought it on Ebay,
I made a post about it a few weeks ago and now I finaly got it!

This is a handpainted Fancy Goldfish, it's 12" and its for wall decoration

I really like it and I think it looks stunning!
If you would like to buy one, look at my previous post:

My second package came from a shop here in the Netherlands, but the product itself is only available in America, so they had to order it from there and then they shipped it to my house.
The product is my Repashy Gelfood soilent green.
I saw this product on a vid of Solid Gold and I really liked it, so I ordered it right away.
and just a few minutes ago it came in!
I will add the vid later on.

So I saw this gelfood on Solid Gold and it really appealed to me because a commercially-formuladet food is more likely to have all the necessary vitamins and minerals in the correct proportions, so I don't have to worry about making the right quantities of those anymore.
I choose Soilent Green because that one is better for the smaller Goldfish, and because Midnight is still a baby goldfish and Braampje is also still very small I thought this was the best option!

I want to use the gelfood like I also saw on Solid Gold. I would like to put it on a rock and lay it in my Goldfish tank, so the fish will have a new way of eating the food.
I like to give them lots of different ways to eat their food, so I can keep them busy.
That way I can stimulate them to try new things and learn from them!
because Fancy Goldfish are much smarter than most people think.

I'm going to buy me a nice rock like this one and I will try out the Repashy Gelfood.
After I did this I will add a video about it!

Got my Apple snails!

Like 2 days ago I got my Apple snails, they are doing great!
They really look funny and they are so nice to watch!
I have like 9 of them, 3 big ones, 2 pearl white and 1 pink and I've got 6 little ones, 3 pearl white and 3 pink.
They are really cute!

I took them home in my transport tank, it's like a 2.7 gallon.
I've got this little transport box so I can move my fish when they are sick or something.
Or when I'm getting new things!

Here they are in my transport tank:

As you can see there is not a lot of water in it, because the snails don't need all that water for transport.
But when my fancy goldfish are full grown, they defenitly will need that big of a tank to transport them in!

The first thing I did was poor in the same amount of water from my main tank, as the amount that was already in the transport box.
I did this because the water measurements were a bit different then the once they were used too.
I let them sit in it for like 5 to 10 minutes and then I'd put them on the top of my tank.

First I'd feed the fish, so they won't start trying to eat the snails right away!
'cause they do try to eat Sjaakie often, but then Boeddha spits him out again.
So first I'd put in one of the big snails to see how they would react, and Boeddha was taking a look at the snail right away.
So I decided to put in the smaller ones near by the ship, because Boeddha doesn't come there often.

The woman I got them from told me that it can take about 3 days before they start moving, because they're not used to ship to another tank. But surprisingly they almost started moving right away!
It was really cute to see them look for food and then eat from my glass wall!

As you can see the cochlea of some snails are a bit damaged, that's because of the low PH and GH they were in, they were in these measurements: PH 7 / KH 5 / GH 7.
And now I have them in PH 8/ KH 4/ GH 8 so I hope there cochlea will get well!

At the time they are doing great, they are moving a lot through my tank and they are cleaning a lot of algea!
I also got some tablets to feed them and sometimes I will throw in some cumcumber.
Make sure you put a teaspoon in it so it will sink to the bottum of the tank!
The small ones will probably grow out to be big ones in a while and I want to let grow some baby snails out of them one time. They can grow out to 2 inch or so!

They will get about 2 years and then they will die and then you need to take them out of your tank so they won't start to rot in your tank, otherwise your water values will get bad.
I will keep you guys up to date!

Video Blog

First vid of my Fancy Goldfish video blog on youtube.
I did already make vids of my fish but I never gave information while doing that.
So because I'm a big fan of Solid Gold, I thought I might try it for myself.
This is the very first time I recorded myself, so it was very hard!

I've also got a cold so I sounded a bit weird and my english isn't that good when I talk out loud because I'm not used to talking english !
But over all I think I did pretty ok!

I hope you guys like it

It's a girl..!

Today I got confirmed that Midnight my baby single tail Butterfly is a girl !
I didn't know fer sure, because he isn't as round as Braampje is.
But this is why I know!

When you look at the goldfish's vent area, near the anal fin, You'll see that a female goldfish's vent will protrude very slightly beyond her abdomen, appearing as a raised surface beneath her belly.
By comparison, a male's vent area will completely flat, and its anal fin will appear thin.

Female
Male

Male and female goldfish have slightly different shapes. Male goldfish are usually longer and thinner, with a more torpedo-shaped appearance, when compared to females of the same age and variety. Females, in general, are rounder and thicker, with more flesh around the abdomen.

As you can see, Braampje is a lot more rounder then Boeddha is,
First Midnight was almost the same shape as Boeddha is, but she is getting more and more round.
You can also see that on the first photo on the page of Midnight.

When ready to spawn, male goldfish develop small white spots on their gill-shields and pectoral fin, known as breeding tubercles (breeding stars). Not all males exhibit breeding stars, but, when they do appear, they are a certain sign that the fish is male. Tubercles may last for several days or weeks, depending on the male's maturity and biology.

The second day I had Boeddha he also showed some stars on his pectoral fin.
There were also eggs in my tank that day, I didn't saw the Breeding stars after that day anymore though.
I didn't make a photo of it so I searched up this one that looked just like him !

If possible, look at the underbelly of the goldfish to determine its sex. A male goldfish has a "midline ridge," or a raised line that extends from the back of the pelvic fins to the vent. The ridge is either completely absent or very faint in females. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to look at a goldfish closely enough to examine for signs of the midline ridge.

I don't have a photo of my fish to show you, but I did check it and what I saw is that Boeddha has this line from his pelvic fins to his vent that is a bit set.
Braampje and Midnight do have that line a bit, but it's just flat on their belly

Male goldfish tend to chase other fish, particularly females, and may nudge the females' rears after catching up to them. If you notice that one fish is almost always the chaser, and that the other is usually the "chasee," odds are good that the more aggressive fish is male and that the victms are female.

As you can see Boeddha is always behind the other two!
So I think I can gladly say that Midnigt and Braampje are female and Boeddha is a male!
